Learning Yoga – Choose India As Your Destination

India being a place where yoga was originated, I believe if one wishes to immerse oneself into the fine art of Yoga, no other than India is the destination. India is a land of yoga and it attracts yogis from all over the world who are seeking a spiritual and serene gateway from the travails of daily lifestyle.

Why do I call India as the best destination to learn yoga? Because I am an Indian. Well No. India invented Yoga and Meditation many millennia before the world could understand its importance. India houses a number of yoga houses and retreats and one can look for an array of courses and treatments in India to heal one’s mind, body and soul.

Yoga in the west focuses mostly on the physical postures and sequences (asana) but in India especially in traditional ashrams, asana is only one aspect of the whole system. So in India, one can expect a greater emphasis on breathing, meditation, cleansing on one’s soul with devotional practices such as philosophy tuition, chanting of mantras, and karma yoga.

While we move forward in discussing why India is the best yoga destination for you, I would like to mention a few good places in India where you can learn the art of Yoga.

1. Rishikesh

This place is called the world capital of yoga. The place is a spiritual destination for many people and it houses a number of Ashrams and yoga centers both ancient and modern ones. The city is located on the bank of river Ganges and it is believed that meditating here brings one's soul closer to Moksha (Enlightenment).

2. Bihar School of Yoga, Munger Bihar

At this school, yoga is a lifestyle and not just any practice. Karma yoga is given preference over Asana. Alongside the classes, one must expect to work like a yogi, cleaning utensils, kitchen work; toilet cleaning is the part of one’s schedule here.

3. Purple Valley, Assagoa, Goa

This place is for a modern yogi who is looking for juices, detox, and Wi-Fi along with his yoga practices. This place has the world’s best teachers like John Scott, Petri Raisanen etc. for yoga and meditation. Do not worry if you are not a veteran in Yoga, being one of the most reputed institutes to learn yoga, it encourages beginners with great zeal too.

4. Kaivalyadham Ashram, Lonavala Maharashtra

Lonavala is small hill station located between Pune and Mumbai. This ashram was designed as a yogic center in 1924 and one can spend a day, a week, a month and even years to explore and experience the myriad of programs it has to offer to you. The ashram also offers diploma and full accredited degrees for yoga teachers along with short courses for beginners and advanced students.

5. Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Centre, Dharamkot, Himachal Pradesh and Arambol Goa

This center has uniqueness in itself. In summers the center is working in Himachal and in winters the space shifts to Arambol Goa. The owner of the institute is an accredited yoga teacher passed from BKS Iyengar and is known for his yoga techniques. All the students here must pass through the first five-day course before they proceed for the professional courses ahead.

6. Mysore Mandala, Mysore, Karnataka

This is one of the prettiest places for yoga in Mysore. The yoga center is located in a century old house and a charming café supplied by owner’s organic farm. It is more like a western style retreat than a traditional ashram. There is a wide range of classes to choose from. The teaching is led by a team of 9 teachers and teacher training is highly regarded here.

These were the few best yogic centers to choose from if you wish to learn yoga in India. The yoga centers in India are quite diversified. One can get complete traditional and ancient feel at one centre and exactly opposite like a western retreat on the other. You will not find the traditional yoga with a western touch anywhere else in the world except India. When you have a myriad of options to learn yoga in India, why do you still wish to hunt for a good yoga training institute anywhere else in the world?

Chelsea Tower Hotel Apartments – Excellent Dubai Accommodation

Our flight landed on Dubai International Airport, and after collecting our luggage we headed straight to get a taxi which is available just as you step out of the airport. Surprisingly, we reached Chelsea Tower Hotel Apartments in just about 15 minutes. Enroute, got out of the taxi to see the majestic Burj Khalifa Tower with all its grandeur; towering above us.

Check- in process was fairly simple and quick. Diana the receptionist was understanding enough to get over with the process as fast as possible seeing how exhausted we were after the long flight. It was quite a busy time, I suppose, because the lobby was filled with people and that made it look so vibrant. There were 5 lifts so one never had to wait longer than a minute.

Fast forward to the room on the 41st floor, gigantic and beautiful with huge windows and a balcony that overlooked…

How to Make the Best of Your Short Transit Period at Dubai International Airport

If you are going to be in Dubai in transit or on a layover for a few hours, it’s better to stay in the airport than to venture out to see the city for a number of reasons.  At the top of the list is the fact that the roads in Dubai are notorious for heavy traffic, and if you are caught in a traffic jam it might become very difficult to get back to your terminal in time for your next flight.  Since the airport handles a lot of flight traffic, the crowds at the airport terminals are usually high, which makes it tougher to get to your gate on time.

There are many dedicated lounges for various international airlines like the British Airlines, KLM, Star Alliance, Air France and Gulf Air.  Emirates has separate lounges for Business Class and First Class travelers.  In addition to this, you…

Thinking About Filming With a Drone Above Dubai? Think Again

A guide for film enthusiasts wishing to film from the UAE’s skies.

Its Dubai 2016, and although we do not have flying cars and hover boards (at least, not real ones), we do have flight drones, and lots of them. While most people who own high-end models of drone aircraft do so for professional use, an increasing number of people have purchased the machines simply as toys. What many of them do not know (including a large number of film production companies in Dubai) is that drone usage with a camera within the UAE is illegal, without the correct permissions and permits.

Recently The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has asked light air sports enthusiasts, including drone enthusiasts, to fly their aircraft only in accredited clubs approved by the authority to address safety and security issues. Most notably, the GCAA also warned drone hobbyists against equipping their vehicles with laser…

Top 5 Cheapest Destinations to Fly to in the USA

Flights are expensive. I often have enough hotel and car points to get rooms and rentals free, but I’ll still break the bank if I go on the trip because of the flight alone.

The thing is, eventually I wanted to go outside of driving distance. Who doesn’t want to see the world? Luckily, there are certain destinations that are routinely cheaper than others. If you’re able to book early and get the right price, you might get a HUGE break.

1. Chicago: Consistently the cheapest flight price from basically anywhere in the U.S., Chicago is such a mid-country hub that airlines luckily make it easy for virtually anyone to get there. While it’s not the flashiest or biggest city, it does have a lot to offer in terms of sightseeing, especially if you’ve never been!

2. Orlando: Luckily for all us Disney fanatics, Orlando ranks second cheapest for flight prices. This…

The Astrology of "The Day the Music Died"

On the morning of 3 February 1959, America woke up to the dreadful news that three of its most beloved performers, Buddy Holly, J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson and Ritchie Valens, along with the pilot, Roger Peterson, had perished in a plane crash.

Two of these musicians, J. P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson and Ritchie Valens “won” their seats and were never meant to be on that plane. The musicians who gave up their seats, Tommy Allsup and Waylon Jennings (Buddy Holly’s “Crickets”), had very lucky escapes. With Venus opposite Pluto in the chart of the crash, the victims of the crash notably left behind loved ones: Peterson was newly married, Valens, the youngest victim, had a sweetheart named Donna and The Big Bopper left behind his pregnant wife and young child. Holly also left behind a pregnant wife who subsequently miscarried due to the shock of hearing of his…
